Davis: "Math is hard!"

From the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette:

... But when asked if Saturday’s 88-80 loss to top-ranked UConn could give him a better gauge on his team going into the last half of the Big Ten schedule, Davis took the opportunity to attack his team’s critics, be it fans or media.

"Well, we are in second place,” he said, misjudging his team’s position in the Big Ten standings. Actually, IU went into the day tied for fourth place, 5-3 in the league, and left the same way. “We are in second place and have a chance to win the conference if
we just take care of home and win some road games.

“I think sometimes people forget we are in second place,” Davis said.

I think sometimes people forget that IU is actually tied for fourth. Is this the man you want coaching your team with 10 seconds left, down by 3? Wouldn't it just petrify you to think that a Davis-coached team in that situation would hold the ball for a potential-not-game-tying 12-footer? Isn't it just insane that instead of focusing on what they could have done to keep UConn 9 points down, he instead continues this vendetta against people who are still upset that he's not Bob Knight? FireMikeDavis.com, indeed. (Unfortunately, that austere site would be a lot easier to digest if it weren't for the random capitalization, half-sentences and references to "bafoons.")

Shockingly, Fort Wayne has two newspapers. The other FW paper, the News Sentinel, quotes an AP article in which the learned coach states:
"We've got a chance to win the conference if we take care of home and win some road games," Davis said after the No. 22 Hoosiers' 88-80 loss.

Of course you do, Coach. Of course you do.
