Napalm Death still mysteriously absent ...

The Captain sent me a link to this site, and I think it's pretty neat. But I have to wonder when those jackbooted thugs at Billboard will shut it down, yelling something about "copyright infringement."

I am, however, vastly unhappy with the songs that have been number one the week of my birthday. There hasn't really been anything worthy of tying in with memories of birthdays past since ... well, before I was born ("Hey Jude," The Beatles, 1968).

What, you don't have warm birthday flashbacks of Kenny Rogers' "Lady"? Or of Boston's "Amanda"? Or that Bad English song? Hey, didn't you have a girlfriend named Amanda once? Didn't her dad want you to just go away for a very long time? Wasn't that around the time of that Bad English song?

No, no, no, yes, yes, and yes.

At least my son's birthday has a better selection, solely for the fact that "Nothing Compares 2 U" probably ranks as one of the three best radio hits of the '90s.

The site's compiled information is a pretty good indicator of the general direction of music the last 40 years, especially "popular" music: down the crapper.
